Cruise Terminal Design
The project entailed the planning and design of new cruise terminals in the pacific coast of Central America.
As part of a large land reclamation project, the future cruise terminals add turnaround and port-of-call capabilities currently unavailable in the country.
The terminals were designed to berth up to 4 mega vessels simultaneously and included all the support areas to operate efficiently around the clock such as an intermodal area with parking for up to 300 vehicles.
The project went beyond cruise terminal design proposing a public park, fishing and dining facilities, bicycle paths and other public amenities to be used by visitors and city dwellers alike.
Sustainability strategies were implemented at various levels to minimize the carbon footprint, substantially reduce the energy and water consumption as well as waste.
