Mana 5th Ave Lobby

Mana 5th Ave LobbyMiami, Florida

The Wynwood Arts District is home to over 70 art galleries, retail stores, and shops, and it is one of the world’s largest open-air street art installations. Creative businesses of all types are opening their doors in the District and find their contemporary lifestyle and open mindset aligned with their visions.

Our projects in Wynwood recognize its heritage and incorporate its essence into the design, including urban-scale art murals integrated into the buildings, activating street life through retail stores and restaurants on the ground floor, and openings for public use, yards, and patios within private properties.

27 W Flagler

27 W FlaglerMiami, Florida

The project involves the complete renovation of the 12-story office building in downtown Miami, with each floor plate being approximately 13,000 square feet. The building, constructed in the 1950s and 60s, has a total area of 156,000 square feet and is located on Flagler Street, one of downtown Miami’s most important historical streets. The design concept focuses on creating a new façade on Flagler Street with a mix of brick and glass curtain wall systems. The street level will be activated by designing a three-story colonnade with brick and open glass storefronts. The first floors will be modified for lobby and retail restaurant space.

The Putting Club

The Putting ClubMiami, Florida

The Lincoln Road Mall is a unique experience in the United States, one of the country’s few pedestrian shopping and leisure streets. Its success has led to the continued reinvestment and re-imagining of the various retail and entertainment experiences along the Mall.

For all of the great ‘unprogrammed’ activities that exist along Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, dining, shopping, and people-watching, there is little structured entertainment beyond the movies and bowling. The Putting Club’s goal is to provide another family-oriented, activity-based entertainment alternative within our City Center with a design that relates to its tropical setting, its Lincoln Road adjacency, and its rooftop location.

We studied the architecture, sequence, and experience of Lincoln Road, with its pavilions and tropical landscaping, to inform our design decisions and to create a place that feels like an extension of the best Lincoln Road offers. Our design aims to transform this underused rooftop into an amenity. Through this unique and thoughtful design, we believe we will create a destination that ties into the history and aesthetic of Lincoln Road Mall while becoming an integral part of the redevelopment and future of the Lincoln Lane corridor.

Miami Beach Hotel

Miami Beach HotelUSA

The project entails renovating the current property and transforming it into a contemporary luxury hotel. The hotel is located at the northern edge of the historical district, warranting a thoughtful design that will enhance the vibrant urban life of Miami Beach without calling attention to itself. To achieve this goal, we implemented several strategies, such as re-establishing the visual connection between the lobby, garden, and pool deck. Like the original plan, the public spaces are organized linearly, creating a procession of intermediate spaces between interior and exterior, between the lobby, terrace, garden, pool, boardwalk, and ultimately the beach. On the Ground Floor, the inside and lobby elements are carried out to the terrace, and landscaping is brought to the lobby, enhancing the visual and sensory connection between inside and outside. Providing an “oceanfront dining experience” enables a high-quality dining venue that mediates between beach and hotel. A second, more exclusive pool is located on top of the restaurant, re-establishing the rooftop sundeck of the original design. These strategies will create a Beach Hotel that engages the public in this crucial location.

Container Park Complex

Container Park ComplexWynwood, USA

The project entailed planning approximately 1.9 acres of unoccupied space in the Wynwood Arts District to house ephemeral events lasting no more than a few days. The plan provides a backbone for the events with an open semi-covered central space surrounded by a series of modified containers that can be leased for retail, food serving, or other uses—a large-scale public pool deck and a plaza anchoring the project on both ends.

Mana Hotel

Mana HotelMiami, USA

This is a conceptual design proposal for adding a hotel to a large-scale mixed-use building in Wynwood. The hotel addition includes 150 rooms, a rooftop pool deck, a café, and other amenities.

As part of the development of the Wynwood Arts District, MANA engaged BBA to design a large-scale mixed-use project that included a boutique hotel. The urban hotel is inspired by the arts, captured in the facade and interior design concepts. The small hotel consists of 40 rooms, a rooftop pool deck, a cafe, and other amenities. The project will help revitalize the once-thriving 5th Avenue. BBA was also retained to develop design studies for expanding the 5th Avenue hotel capacity in the future. The new addition added a restaurant on the ground floor, a dedicated hotel entrance/lobby, and 40 rooms. The addition was meant to complement the mixed-use project while achieving its own design presence.

Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce

Puerto Rican Chamber of CommerceMiami, USA

The project entails the design of the new Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce and County Office Building in Wynwood. The Puerto Rican Community has a rich and long history in Miami centered in Wynwood, but until now, it has not had a hub. Our project will provide a café, learning, art, meeting, and office spaces for this purpose. In addition, the upper floors will also be devoted to offices for Miami-Dade County and the Commissioner serving Wynwood. The building draws its inspiration from the industrial nature of the neighborhood and the mostly one-story warehouses that define the character of Wynwood, along with the street art (murals) that have become a tourist destination. In keeping with the neighborhood and to diminish the building mass, the last floor is set back, and a large terrace fronts 29th Street. The façade treatment of the upper floors is governed by the rhythmic repetition of vertical fins that recall industrial building architecture of the 20th century. The ground floor comprises retail spaces, a café, and the building entrance lobby. A glass storefront lines 29th Street, which is generously set off the sidewalk to create additional space for outdoor events. The upper floors have offices and a children’s education center.

Glow was a design project that involved converting a former art gallery into a 200-square-foot store, including a 1,000-square-foot warehouse with a commercial kitchen and corporate offices for the Glow team. PAMM Cucuyo

PAMM CucuyoMiami, USA

PAMM Cucuyo is an innovative outdoor mobile café designed by BBAmiami at the Perez Art Museum Miami. Cucuyo establishes a conversation with its context, the beautifully designed museum by Herzog and de Meuron, where the café is located. As it sits on the outdoor terrace overlooking the bay, its strong, self-contained elliptical shape that recalls eggs and cocoons stands in contrast to the rectilinear and orthogonal elements of the building. Produced entirely in stainless steel and 3D printed in the Netherlands by MX3D, the cafe is moveable, contains all the necessary equipment, adapts to special events, and can be disassembled. An AIA Award winner for its fantastic detailing, Cucuyo is an elegant and functional addition to the museum.

Mana 5th Avenue

Mana 5th AvenueWynwood, Miami, Florida

Mana Fifth Ave. is a large-scale, mixed-use, innovative project to kick-start Wynwood’s western edge revitalization. The primary tenant is an artist-driven beauty brands company that creates top-tier beauty products (LBP). Occupying the majority of the 243,000 sf nine-story building, it will bring to Wynwood a dynamic mix of office, education spaces, auditoriums, hotels, restaurants, and retail. MANA production studios will occupy the top floor, and the ground level will add a pool deck and outdoor terrace. The design is inspired by the industrial and chaotic nature of the neighborhood with its urban-scale murals, one-story warehouses, and dense fabric. Architecturally, each façade responds to its context differently, and the building steps back on Fifth Avenue to reduce its presence on the street and its immediate surroundings.

Sanctuary Mimo

Sanctuary MimoMiami, USA

Sanctuary Mimo is an adaptive reuse project in Miami’s vibrant MIMO District. This significant project by BBAmiami revitalizes the historic Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, converting it into a dynamic office and event venue for Front of the House (FOH). Preserving the church’s Sub-Tropical modernist architectural elements, including the tower’s stone treatment and façade fenestration, were considered and balanced against the new program’s needs of a 14,000 sf event space and support and office spaces. A new outdoor courtyard surrounded by a lush landscape creates an inviting environment for guests to enjoy. The harmonious blend of a historic structure with contemporary uses transforms the place into a compelling urban sanctuary.

Berenblum Busch Architects are the interior designers for this unique restaurant experience in the iconic Museum Towers in Downtown Miami. Our design intention is to seamlessly blend the interior design with the building architecture by Zaha Hadid and create a natural and beautiful experience appealing to the human senses. Inspired by an Asian understanding of nature and space, we have selected raw and natural materials that shall be beautifully crafted, combining linen, concrete, wood, and cherry blossom. It will be a unique dining venue in Miami. It is experienced as a spatial garden of multiple facets of colors, such as pinks, reds, and greens, interplaying with lights, shadows, and natural materials.
